Upon arrival at the
launch location, students will learn about and assist with the unloading of the kayaks and related gear. All
equipment will be clean and in good working condition.
Beginning classes are taught in the Southern California bays, harbors, or ocean,
depending on customer preference, where many different species of fish are caught including: sand bass, spotted bay bass,
halibut, shark, bonito etc.
We
will spend approximately 1.5 hours in discussion and preparation before entering the water and a minimum of 3
hours fishing. At the end of the day the kayaks and fishing gear will be washed off and secured in the truck.
A typical day is 6-7 hours.
All equipment and tackle will be provided by your
guide. If you have fishing gear that you prefer to use please bring it. Rods & reels provided by your guide
that are lost, will be charged to the customer.
You will get wet from the feet to knees upon entering and exiting the kayak.
Once on the kayak however, you can expect to stay dry. You will be provided with a dry bag to protect
your belongings. The bag will be stored on your kayak and accessible throughout the day.
If you bring a camera or phone, they should be placed in a dry zip lock bag and stored in the provided dry bag; even
a small amount of salt water can destroy electronics quickly.
Lunch, snacks, and drinks will
be provided by your guide.
One-day fishing licenses are also available for $12.10 - Children under the age of 16
are not required to have a fishing license.
After one lesson, the student will have enough information, knowledge and
confidence to continue on without further instruction in this exciting sport.
